Romance As Self-Growth: Fleabag Season 2
For all the love I have for romance as a genre, there sure are a lot of relationships and personal entanglements depicted in TV, movies, and books that I either absolutely loathe or, worse, could not care less about.
This is mostly because what they get wrong is that a relationship has to feel earned — you can’t throw someone into the mix and then, two minutes, episodes, or pages later tell me that they’re in love rather than show me.
But when this medium of content gives me two people who sincerely form a connection, takes me through their increasing interest in one another, shows me how much they care, how well they get along, they’ve got me hook, line and sinker. I’m invested in the couple on a deeply personal level. Everything they feel, I do too.
